Littleton Returns to its Roots

Its roots in education, that is. Presenting, Littleton Academy!

But first, a bit of history. At the beginning of the last century, Littleton somewhat enjoyed a national reputation as a health resort – principally, for the healthful effects of its local waters. But it also was recognized for its quality educational establishments, especially the Littleton College for women (nee Littleton Female College), but also a boys preparatory school, Central Academy.

Well, after a 100 year hiatus, quality education is back in Littleton town proper: Littleton Academy shares a newly expanded building with the Littleton Cultural Arts Center south of Main Street. It will initially serve grades K-5, but will eventually expand to grade 12. You can read more about it here.

And Ben’s Creek Nursery has been doing its part to bring Littleton’s newest addition to reality. Grading, new sod, planting beds, and a complete irrigation system were our responsibility, and our crews are finished.

First, the irrigation pipes were laid.

Next, the grading to prepare for the new sod, in conjunction with an array of foundation plantings.

Fresh, new Bermuda sod was then installed, with plenty of water from the irrigation system.

A good bit of Dark Walnut Shredded mulch for the planting beds …

… and voila! Our work here is done.

It has been a pleasure to work on this exciting project. Any questions? Contact us!
