All of our upgrade work begins with a thorough cleanup and removal of old plants and materials. On this project we removed, along the front foundation, Nellie Stevens Hollies, Dwarf Yaupon Hollies, a Weeping Japanese Maple, and various shrubs; Azaleas, Roses, and Spirea from the perimeter of the driveway center island; and a Nellie Stevens Holly plus the remaining shrubs along the right rear foundation.
We then tilled the beds, amended them with cubic yards of planting soil, and installed new plant replacements. Everything was finished with the rich, contrasting elegance of Dark Walnut shredded mulch.
Here’s how things looked before we got started.

Beginning with the front foundation plantings, here are before and after photos to the left of the front walk.
Before/After

The left side office building received two Oakleaf Hollies and three Duke Gardens Yews for a clean evergreen structure

To the right of the front walkway, we installed Moonlit Lace Viburnums along the porch railing, August Beauty Gardenias, Camellia Sasanquas, and an Oakleaf Holly at the right corner.

We left the feature plants in the front center island bed, cleaned it up, and installed Duke Gardens Yews and Vintage Jade Distyliums to fill the remainder.
Before/After

On the lake side, we replaced the plantings around the deck steps and foundation with an Oakleaf Holly, an August Beauty Gardenia, Ligustrum, Duke Gardens Yews, and Goshiki Osmanthus.

We left a large crape myrtle at the right rear corner, but raised the canopy to create a clean vase-like shape extending up above the gutters.

And finally, new Zoysia sod with various natural area plantings, together with action shots of the irrigation system after we made repairs.
