Upgrades – Walkway, Sod, & Irrigation

This project involved targeted upgrades: a Lake access paver walkway, a complete lawn replacement with new Compadre Zoysia sod, and an irrigation system.

We tilled, graded, and amended all turf areas with 72 cy of topsoil and then installed and rolled flat some 22,000 sf of Compadre Zoysia sod. The irrigation system (not shown – it’s underground, you know) is a Rainbird ESP 9 zone setup, fully programmable and automated, which covers the entire yard.

The irrigation system was important. Putting down new sod in these hot summer months meant our guys needed to baby the turf for weeks after with precision amounts of water. Proper watering in high heat conditions with intermittent rain is difficult to gauge, but it is necessary to prevent under- and over-watering, either of which can devastate a new lawn. See Warm Season Grasses & Summer Heat for more information.

The Lake access walkway connects the rear deck steps with the boat house. It is a 208′ long Techo-Bloc Champlain Grey Eva paver sidewalk.

Our guys finished with a clean up of the Lakeside natural area, removing all small saplings, sticks, and excessive leaf accumulations, and then mulching with multiple bales of NC Long Leaf Pine Needles.

Excellent work by our crews!
